My name is Michelle (Shelly) Stevens and I am running for the Board of Education at Alfred-Almond. I am the mother of 3 girls; Bella (7), Liberty (4), and Bristol (1). As a property and business owner, as well as parent in this district, I would like the opportunity to be involved in the continued success of our school district. My husband, Charlie Stevens, and I own Stevens Contracting and I am the Executive Director of Hornell Partners for Growth. We live in Almond.
I am a 2001 Arkport Central School graduate, member of the Hornell Rotary, and hold a Masters in Business Administration. I have been actively attending BOE meetings since September. I would like to be able to offer my knowledge and skill set as a strong addition to the current board. I feel a strong responsibility towards fulfilling my civic duty as a parent of children attending the school district.
Should a resident have a question about my candidacy, I can be reached by calling or texting 607-382-8138 or email email@example.com. Thank you.for your support and I look forward to the possibility of serving you and your families!
for Kingston City School District Board of Education
I want to be part of bringing about change in the Kingston City School District so that all stakeholders (parents, teachers, administrators and the community) are working together to graduate well-rounded, well-educated students who have been challenged to achieve their personal best in school and who are able to move into adulthood as decision-making members of society.
I want parents to feel that their voice is being heard regarding curriculum, school structure, Common Core or other issues. Parents should be able to get their needs and concerns successfully addressed by the school district and feel that they can be active partners in the education of their children.
I want classroom teachers to feel that they are respected as their training and careers deserve. Teachers' input and wisdom should be sought regarding curriculum, the best ways to help our students learn to read, how to improve graduation rates and any other challenges we face in the classroom.
I want the school district to partner with community members in advocating for state and federal mandate relief and reliable funding for education that does not impose yearly tax increases on local property owners.
